Users upgrading from earlier versions of DeNoise will have an easy time navigating the version 6 interface, but new users would do well to view some of the excellent tutorials on the Topaz Labs website in order to get the most out of the program.
You can remove the noise from most images using only this mode and the Overall Strength slider. The RGB Preview Mode displays the noise in all color channels. The DeNoise 6 workspace organizes presets to the left, navigator and settings to the right, and a large preview window in the center.

DeNoise 6, as with version 5, will install as a plug-in to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, Serif Photo Plus, Corel Paintshop Pro and Photo Impact, and Topaz photoFXlab, but photographers not shooting in a RAW file format can access DeNoise 6 noise reduction features through the standalone version. There are several significant new features in version 6, but two stand out for me: the ability for it to run as a standalone program as well as a plug-in, and its ability to batch process an entire directory of images. I tested DeNoise 6.0.1 on both platforms and the look as well as the results were as identical as the two platforms allow.

Those who succumb to this temptation soon find that image noise increases in pace with higher ISO settings. Overall a very good company.Now that ISO speeds in digital SLRs have achieved astronomical numbers (like 3,276,800 on the Nikon D5), the temptation for photographers is to actually use ISO settings greater than 6400. Also, so far, every update of a plug in, including going from version 1 to 2 or 4 to 5 etc., is free. If some of their plug ins appeal, sign up for their news letter and you will get offers for discounts. Unfortunately, when they first brought out FXLab there were a lot of problems with it, but they worked very quickly to resolve them. Knowing how they operate, I think when it is actually implemented (and not in Beta) it will be a pretty decent piece of software. I have not tried it yet, but I suspect Studio is their replacement for FXLab. Many others are specialty such adding textures, star effects, simplifying etc. While (IMHO) I think they have lost steam the last 18-24 months, they still make very good plug ins and several (my favs include: BW, Clarity, Denoise, and Detail) still offer great results.

Lab is full service and you have total access to all editing capacity of every plug in you have registered to it. I think the lab, which had layers, you could adjust, add multiple filters etc., kind of lost focus with them and is no longer being developed although you can still add their newer plug ins to it. I am not sure if you need the Fusion app as I run it through their "FXLab" so haven't needed anything else for years. I liked (my go to plug-ins outside of native capabilities in several programs) Topaz quite a bit and still do.
